Leading Vision Creation enables companies to address the need for clear direction through a collaborative, down-to-earth process particularly accessible to small businesses.
Background
If we could capture the imagination of leaders what would we find? Leaders have choices: do they maintain the status quo and remain under threat from competitors? Or do they aspire to change what they do and how they do things in a positive vision for future growth and security? Leading Vision Creation refers to the “what” aspect of vision creation, not the “how” aspect of strategy. Having made the decision to change, leaders must engage in Sense Making, Decision Making and Making Sense, the virtuous circle of vision creation.
What outcome can be expected?
Leading Vision Creation will:
-
identify opportunities for the organisation, and develop them into viable options, and
-
identify an agreed way forward and enable this to be communicated and embedded within the organisation
Elements
There are three main elements:
-
Initial Assessment Diagnostic: identifies the organisation’s current capability to lead vision creation
-
Leading Vision Creation Process: a process for creating a vision for the organisation
-
Leading Vision Creation Handbook: describes the deployment process and provides support materials for a suite of industry standard tools and techniques relevant to strategic vision creation
When should you use it?
The tool should be used whenever a company needs to develop a clear vision for the future and embed this vision within the organisation.
How does it work?
This tool is deployed by a qualified facilitator sourced either from within the company or externally. The facilitator works with the company through a step-by-step process that examines the three key elements of the vision creation process:
The process uses standard techniques to identify opportunities and select viable options.
Additionally a self-assessment diagnostic is available which enables companies to prepare for the vision creation process, and the facilitator to focus development activities appropriately.
